Retiree Health Insurance Coverage

City of Henderson Non-Represented and Public Safety PERS Retirees have access in retirement to the same excellent City Self-Funded health insurance benefits they enjoyed as active employees.  To access plan documents, vendor information, provider look-up links, etc. please visit the City Health Plans page on this website.

Retiree Health Insurance Premium Assistance (RHIPA)

As part of your active employee benefits package, you were offered access to a retiree health insurance subsidy known as the Retiree Health Insurance Premium Assistance (RHIPA) benefit.  The RHIPA benefit is offered to eligible Retirees to aid in making health insurance premiums a bit more affordable in retirement.  Depending on years of eligible service and age at retirement, Retirees are eligible for either a premium reduction on the City of Henderson Self-Funded Health Plan, a contribution to the Retirement Health Savings (RHS) account at 50% of the original benefit amount (for Medicare Eligible Retirees), or a combination of both.  For more details on plan and eligibility rules, please review the RHIPA Summary Plan Document or the Joint Benefits Agreement as applicable to you.

Non-Represented Retirees

For non-represented Retirees, this benefit is governed by the RHIPA Summary Plan Document and additional clarifications can be found in the Frequently Asked Questions document.

HPOA, HPSA, and IAFF Retirees
Public Safety Retirees have access to the RHIPA benefit through the current collectively bargained Joint Benefits Agreement between the City of Henderson and the Henderson Police Officers’ Association (HPOA), Henderson Police Supervisors’ Association (HPSA), and the International Association of Firefighter (IAFF) Local #1883.  Additional clarifications can be found in the Frequently Asked Questions document for the Joint Benefits Agreement.

For questions about the RHIPA benefit and how it applies to you, you may contact COH Benefits by e-mail at MyCOHBenefits@cityofhenderson.com.
